What
is Creative Book and Journal-making? [Return to
Top of Page]
At
some point, no matter what their background, most people wish to
make a sketchbook, journal, scrapbook, album, etc, but lack the
basic skills to begin. Our 2-day course will teach these skills
and will explore individual ways of creating original, interesting
and fun book projects. A range of book-making styles will be explored,
offering the skills required to make and decorate your own bespoke
books. This is a great way to re-use paper, cardboard, wire, string,
etc., to make attractive books for nothing.
What
does the course entail?[Return to Top of Page]
Over
the two days, students will, initially, construct a bound book,
using stitching and taping techniques. From this point, the course
will develop according to the requirements of the individual student
and may include investigation into creative approaches to book-coverings,
bindings, journal-making, albums for collectors, Chinese-wallets,
etc. The emphasis will be on personal creativity.
How
much will the course cost me? [Return to Top of
Page]
The
cost of the two-day course will be £120.00, which will include
all basic materials, unless individuals wish to bring along specific
materials which are not included in the course. Meals and accommodation
are not included in the price, but we can provide some
Bed
& Breakfast accommodation
at very competitive rates. The
local pub serves food, lunchtimes and evenings, and there is a local
shop, garden centre with cafeteria, and a small bakery just outside
the village.
