handPRINT Studio is pleased to offer workshops in a range of printmaking processes and techniques, including Collagraph/Carborundum printmaking, Safe Etching, Relief printmaking without a Press, Drypoint printmaking and Monotype. Courses in Collagraph/Carborundum, Safe Etching and Relief printmaking without a Press take place over two consecutive days, and those dealing with Drypoint and Monotype are one-day workshops. Classes maintain an emphasis on small groups of students (no more than 6), thus enabling more individual tuition over the duration of the course. All basic materials, plus handouts relating to all aspects of the workshop, are included in the price. Workshops, which run from 9.30am to 5pm, deal with a wide range of aspects relating to the process involved, including tools and materials, suppliers, basic and creative methods of plate preparation , basic inking and printing, advanced inking and printing techniques, colour registration and cleaning and mounting prints. Course tutor, Peter Wray R.E., is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, and one of UK's foremost exponents of Collagraph/Carborundum printmaking. He has over 30 years' of successful teaching experience across a wide range of levels, and enjoys an international reputation as an artist- printmaker. He has exhibited widely throughout Britain and abroad, and his work is held in many prestigious private, public and corporate collections. Accommodation and meals are not included in the price of the workshops, but we can offer limited bed and breakfast facilities,as well as a light lunch during the day. There are also two alternative bed and breakfast properties in the village. Evening meals are available at the village pub close by. The centre of York is only ten minutes' drive from the village, and an excellent bus service runs into and from the city until late. |
